Most recently he became a certified instructor in the Flexible Steel system, and an Indian Club Flexible Steel instructor.

“I believe in consistency over intensity, dedication over motivation. I believe you can be whatever you want to be, just be strong first.”

Peter began training in Martial Arts at age 9. “I was lucky to begin my training in JKD concepts. This was the art and training philosophy of Bruce Lee. I learned to absorb what is useful and reject the unnecessary.” This passion encouraged Peter to begin a self guided Yoga practice at age 10. While Peter enjoyed his Yoga studies, he still possessed an enthusiasm for martial arts. As a Freshmen at the U of O he was introduced to Traditional Chinese Martial Arts. This then turned into living and studying in China for 3 years at the Beijing University of Physical Education.

“I became involved in the sport of Chinese Martial Arts called Wushu. I found success particularly in Taijiquan (Tai-Chi). In 2001 I won the national championship in the Chen Taijiquan division. In 2002 and again in 2005 I was the “All Around Internal Champion” of The University of California at Berkeley Chinese Martial Arts Tournament. In 2005 I qualified for the US national team. That was the end of my competitive life in Taijiquan and in 2006 I moved back to Oregon and began teaching Taijiquan.”

“I feel happy when I express myself with my body and love to give others the keys to unlock the same joy. Fitness can prepare you to deal with the biggest stresses of life and may also be an enjoyable, lifelong practice.”
